After Aaron Rodgers injury, rumblings have it that NFL is planning to enact a new rule to protect the QB. Eventually it seems, if things keep going QB’s and Kickers, will be like kick returners when they signal fair catch. UNTOUCHABLE!
Then we will see free throws, handoffs, heck you might as well say the QB can run the ball all the way down the field for TDs.
What the NFL will not take into consideration is a defenders momentum is going to carry them on. I have seen many times when a defender is trying to avoid contact, but is called for some contact penalty.
Personally I would prefer to watch AUSTRALIAN RULES FOOTBALL..Lots more action.
Again the NFL is playing word games with the RULES. They say “SHOULD” denotes a ‘SUGGESTION’ NOT A RULE. Lets look at this again.
The following is from the Game Operations Department
The National Anthem must be played prior to every NFL game, and all players must be on the sideline for the National Anthem.
During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area SHOULD stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking. The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition. It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and our country. Failure to be on the field by the start of the National Anthem MAY result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions, and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offenses.
I am no lawyer so I use only plain English and not legalese.
SHOULD. If you are about to testify in court; you SHOULD tell the truth. If you don’t tell the truth, you are guilty of PERJURY. PERJURY carries various penalties.
MAY. This is where the “DOUBLE TALK”, comes in. Although the whole RULE/POLICY states what is to take place INCLUDING THE PLAYING OF THE NATIONAL ANTHEM. If a team decides to NOT play the National Anthem; NO BIG DEAL. The NFL has the option to ENFORCE or not ENFORCE. Of course THEY are’t going to fine, suspend, and/or forfeit draft choice(s) . That would go against the owners.
I have not watched a game; As I said I would not watch. I haven’t bought any NFL products. WHY? The same reason I do not support Terrorists. That may sound like an extreme comparison. BUT neither the NFL, or Terrorists display patriotism to the USA.
For those of you who do not know how confidence ranking works let me explain.
If we were playing an office pool,(which we ARE NOT). The object is to score the most points. To obtain the score YOU rank the teams by how confident you are a team will win its game. EXAMPLE: Say this week we have 16 games. The team you are most confident will win you would assign the number 16 and follow down to the team you are least confident in and assign that number 1. We use the Monday night game(last game) as a TIE BREAKER. The tie is broken by the closest to the total (that is the COMBINED score of the two participating teams) final score, without going over.
If we were playing this is how my sheet would look; My pick will be in bold Capital letters. you can use circling, underlining, or highlighting. I will show my correct points in Bold
YOU can adopt the scoring described above. Or, the optional method. A negative score for missed games. We will continue to get a positive score for correct predictions. EXAMPLE: if you scored 1 pt on the first game and you had 15 pts on the second game and lost you would still have a Positive 1. HOWEVER. with the same scenario new scoring system would result with a -14 score.
I will fill in my picks Thursday. Until then feel free to:
Just copy and paste for your own Fun Pool Use. Or to see if you can beat me.
IF YOU SEE I MADE A MIS-COPY OF THE GAMES AND TIMES FEEL FREE TO EMAIL ME AND TELL ME I GOOFED.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL.
