TRIVIA QUESTION:   How much do practice squad players make?

ANSWER: 2 years or less $9,200 a week for 18 weeks, ($165,600 a season).  MORE than 2 years earn a minimum $14,000 a week, ($225,000 a year).

We certainly seen some bad calls last week.  One was when a player was called for “TAUNTING” for saying something to the opposition who slapped his face mask.  Another comes to mind with a “ROUGHING THE PASSER”  which was just incidental normal contact.  I am sure there were more,  but those were the only 2 i actually saw.

We saw two OT games.  And 2 games decided by 3 or less points. (One was a mere 1 pt difference).

QUESTION:  What do you think of the “TAUNTING” rule?   This week we saw a “TAUNTING” infraction for SPINNING A FOOTBALL, flashing the INCOMPLETE SIGN, CLAPPING, FLEXING.  It seems to me this is not a good rule as it stands.  Maybe for more extreme cases.  But it is being called for frivolous things.  Besides this is “ADULTS”.   Granted adults should be above such behavior.  But on the  other hand “ADULTS”,  be able to handle minor taunting.   It appears more FANS, are disapproving of this rule.   I would recommend the NFL fine tune this rule to only approve the call for more major issues.  What do you think?

49ers: RB Raheem Mostert out with season ending knee surgery.

COWBOYS:  DE, DeMarcus  Lawrence  to a broken foot, (more specifically a broken 5th metatarsal). Suffered in practice. Surgery will be needed and he is expected to be return by November.                         WR:  Michael Gallup, expected to miss at least the next month. (calf).     RT:  La’El Collins suspended 5 games for violation of leagues substance abuse policy.        DE: Ramdu Gragpry tested positive for COVID.

GIANTS: Will be missing this week LB: Cam Brown (hamstring).      TE: Evan Engram (calf),                                       G: Shane Lemieux, (knee).      RB: Saquon Barkley is questionable (knee).

PACKERS:  RB: Za’Darius Smith placed on IR, (back), for Sunday’s game.

RAIDERS: QB, Marcus Mariota is expected to miss multiple weeks after aggravating a quadriceps injury during his lone snap of Las Vegas’ overtime win over the Baltimore Ravens. Mariota is presumed to return by Halloween.    RB: Josh Jacobs, out for Sunday game. Mr. Brown was named Defensive Outstanding Lineman in 1962.  He tied a  1932 record for  single season, individual Safeties.  (He sacked both Bart Starr and Johnny Unitas for safeties.  In the 1962 game dubbed the Thanksgiving Massacre, against the PACKERS. Sacking Bart Starr 7 times, including a safety.  Brown was a member of the original FEARSOME FOURSOME, With Alex Karras,  Sam Williams, and Darris McCord.   He made 6 Pro Bowls 1962-1967.  Also a LIONS  RING OF HONOR  in 2018.  While with the RAMS, Roger Brown, Deacon Jones, Lamar Lundy, and Merlin Olsen, made the most feared defensive line(at that time) the  “FEARSOME FOURSOME”.

For those of you who are new here. This is  how confidence ranking goes, let me explain.

If we were playing an office pool,(which we ARE NOT).  The object is to score the most points. To obtain the score YOU rank the teams by how confident you are a team will win its game.  EXAMPLE:  Say this week we have 16 games.  The team you are most confident will win you would assign the number 16 and follow down to the team you are least confident in and assign that number 1.   You add up the TOTAL CORRECT PICKS.. That would be your score.  We use the Monday night (Last game played) as a TIE BREAKER.  The tie is broken by the closest to the total (that is the COMBINED score of the two participating teams) final score, without going over.

YOU can adopt the scoring  described above.  Or, the optional method.  A  negative score for missed games.  We will continue to get a positive score for correct predictions.  EXAMPLE:   if you scored     1 pt on the first game and you had 15 pts on the second game and lost you would still have  1 pt.

1.  HOWEVER. with the same scenario new scoring system would result with a –14 score

If we were playing this is how my sheet would look;  My pick will be in bold Capital letters.  you can use circling, underlining, or highlighting.  I will show my correct points in Bold

I will fill in my picks Thursday.  Until then feel free to:
