NFL CONFIDENCE PICKS WEEK 10 11/10-13-14/2022

  1. NOTE: Early Sunday Morning Game.

COLTS:  New HC:  Jeff Saturday WINS 1st game in NFL coaching career.

COLTS: RE: Hiring of Jeff Saturday as Interim HC.  What does a HC actually do?  Answer; he operates as the overseer, of Co-Odinator of the Co-Ordinators.  Ask yourself, WHO makes the OFFENSIVE CALLS.  The OFFENSIVE Co-Ordiantor acts on information supplied by the various Offensive Coaches.  Then he may or may not call in a play.  Same thing with the Defense, Special Teams, etc, etc  The HC watches for problems happening on the field.  When he spots a problem he consults the C0-ordinator in charge of that particular unit.  He will then decide if his Co_ordinator has the correct answer.  If not he will decide what he thinks is best.  He is the final decision maker.  He may trust his Co-ordinator enough to make all the calls, or he may override the specified Co-ordinator.

The HC is actually the go between the men on the sidelines, and the men on the field.  The middleman, if you will.  His team of coaches, his Co-ordinators answer to him.  The HC answers to the General Manager.  The General Manager answers to the owner(s).

Unfortunately many good HCs are relieved of their duties because the GM isn’t very good at his job.  Sometimes it is because a HIGHLY VALUED, player has a beef with him.  The team has many Millions invested in the  HIGHLY VALUED, player.  A matter of economics.  It will cost less to release the coach;  than the player.

Now back to the reason Jeff Saturday was hired.  True he has no college or NFL experience; BUT maybe he has a hidden talent to coach.  MAIN REASON;  He is a link to the better days of the franchise.  It is the hope he can both KEEP, interest in the team,  AND most importantly instill in the team the winning tradition of days gone by.

DUE to poor choices by the GM,  especially in regard  to QBs.  The Colts have nothing to lose in giving Saturday the opportunity to reunite the team with winning tradition.  Heck I could make better decisions on QBs than Colts GM Chris Ballard.  He is the one who should have had his head on the chopping block.  An HC can only work with the talent he is given by the GM.

As to keeping Sam Ehlinger as the starting QB.  Why not?  Give him the rest of the season to get some games under his belt.  Maybe he will prove to be the right man for the job.  If not do some off-season shopping.  See what is coming up in the draft.  (Right now I don’t see any QBs that impress me that much).  But you still have free agency, and trade options.    Go Ahead Ehlinger show them you are the RIGHT man.

For those of you who are new here. This is  how confidence ranking goes, let me explain.

If we were playing an office pool,(which we ARE NOT).  The object is to score the most points. To obtain the score YOU rank the teams by how confident you are a team will win its game.  EXAMPLE:  Say this week we have 16 games.  The team you are most confident will win you would assign the number 16 and follow down to the team you are least confident in and assign that number 1.   You add up the TOTAL CORRECT PICKS.. That would be your score.  We use the Monday night (Last game played) as a TIE BREAKER.  The tie is broken by the closest to the total (that is the COMBINED score of the two participating teams) final score, without going over.

YOU can adopt the scoring  described above.  Or, the optional method.  A  negative score for missed games.  We will continue to get a positive score for correct predictions.  EXAMPLE:   if you scored     1 pt on the first game and you had 15 pts on the second game and lost you would still have  1 pt.

1.  HOWEVER. with the same scenario new scoring system would result with a –14 score

If we were playing this is how my sheet would look;  My pick will be in bold Capital letters.  you can use circling, underlining, or highlighting.  I will show my correct points in Bold

I will fill in my picks Thursday.  Until then feel free to:
