Dwindling Unemployment

The Government keeps talking about how the unemployment rate is dropping.  But is it?

As you know politics is about skewing the facts.  Making promises you have no intentions of keeping.  Example:  How many times have you heard a politician say.  “If elected I WILL do this or that.  Knowing they can only do this if they have the backing of other elected officials.  Promises mean nothing and neither does their reports.  Remember my post about “Media Spin” .

What they don’t tell you about the “dwindling unemployment” is more important than what they do tell you. I’m sure they don’t count the people who are homeless that would love to have a job but can’t find one and are not on the unemployment roles.  They don’t count those of us who have exhausted our unemployment funds.  Those of us who have given up on finding full time employment and do day work to try to survive.  Those of us living with relatives. because we can’t find a job.  Those of us who swap things for things we need, in order to survive.  No these aren’t included.

How can you get an idea of how many people are unemployed.  An easy way to get an idea is to subtract the number of jobs added from the number of jobs lost.  But that only gives you an approximation.  Here in my state they consider you employed even if you are only working 8 hours a week.  they have companies who are considering bringing in jobs and use their projected employment even if it is 2 years from now.  In other words they count jobs that don’t yet exist.  If a company has , say 50 people working on a temporary basis. (who are not collecting unemployment), The company decides to make these jobs permanent,  Then they count these into their NEW jobs.  It makes the Governor and other officials look good.  That is more important the truthful reporting of unemployed.  I know I will never be able to find a real job.  The only hope I have is to find an investor and start my own business. I either am overqualified, underqualified,  Too old or too young.   I am probably more overqualified than the rest.  I don’t care.  Give me a job.

Skewed unemployment counts.  That is the story today.  Give false hope to Americans.

That Is How I See It.

  1. Hey there! Someone in my Facebook group shared this site with us so I came to look it over. I

  2. I know it was my choice to learn, however I actually thought youd have something interesting to say. All I hear is a bunch of whining about one thing that you possibly can not fix when you werent too busy looking for attention.

  3. DR,Challenging elected offlicais in the media seems to have little effect because they are propped up by the resources of the special interests that you rail against every day. You can fill an hour a day banging the drum with economists, journalists and commentators to drive home the point, but to what end? Until the representatives of the corporations in Washington are voted out of office in favor of representatives of the people, nothing will change. Incumbents have a huge advantage based on name recognition and the lack of credibility of ‘unknown’ challengers. You have a platform. You can use it to support challengers willing to run against incumbents from the corporatocracy. Economists, journalists and commentators can help you make the argument, but we need candidates to drive real change. By providing a platform for challengers to establish name recognition and present their views, you can help them gain credibility and give them a real chance against the Democratic and Republican political machines.
