We have just been the notified the NFL has  OFFICIALLY MOVED THE BUCCANEERS – DOLPHINS GAME TO NOV 19 th
HURRICANE IRMA FORCES SCHEDULE CHANGE
*JUST IN: BUCCANEERS – DOLPHINS GAME WILL NOT BE PLAYED IN MIAMI SUNDAY. Â NFL DEBATING WHETHER TO CHANGE TO A NEUTRAL SITE. OR RESCHEDULE GAME AT A LATER DATE. Â Â Â Possible date would be NOV 19th. Â Odd COINCIDENCE Â BOTH Florida teams have that week as a bye.
This would mean both teams would play 16 straight games with NO BREAK!!!
There is a possible 3rd alternative. Â The game could be played as an extended 17th week game.
Welcome to our 5th year of NFL CONFIDENCE PICKSÂ !!!!!
This also marks the 98th SEASON OF THE NFL!!
IÂ would like to take this time to address the “Kapernick Conundrum”. Â As an employer, I expect my employees present themselves in a favorable light. Â Political views have no place at work. Â I wouldn’t expect them to meet the customers in ragged, dirty shorts. ETC. Â (I think you get my drift here). Â What they do on their own time, as long as it is legal, really no business of my own. Â HOWEVER: If their off hour activities cost ME money, THEN I would intervene and discuss the issue with them. Â If no compromise can be reached, I may wish to move them to a not so public position; OR possible termination.
If I am looking at a prospective employee it would be my due diligence to consider the impact of what may be perceived as a negative reaction to my business. Â I may decide to hire them on a probationary basis. Â I may in Mr. Kapernick’s case try him on a practice squad. Â If I see no negative reaction, he may be moved to a more open position, and progress as I gain confidence in his not hurting my business.
Almost EVERYONE, deserves a second chance. Â Michael Vick got a second chance.
We; no doubt, will see many errant calls by the field officials. SOME legitimate, (after all they are human and can make a miss call).  Some wil most likely come from NFL RULE changes.  So be prepared for some mistakes, both from teams, players, and officials.
Here is a list of the rule changes, as I understand them.
New rule: Unsportsmanlike conduct/leaping
What it means:Â Outlaws the emerging strategy to leap over the line of scrimmage to block extra point attempts or field goal attempts.Â
New rule: Intentional fouls/unsportsmanlike conduct
What it means:Â Teams will now be penalized 15 yards, and the game clock will be restored, if they commit multiple fouls on the same play in an effort to manipulate the game clock.Â
New rule: Stronger enforcement of penalties for “very egregious” hits
What it means:Â The competition committee identified a handful of plays from the 2016 season that included hits so violent and so counter to existing rules that it wanted them “out of our game,” according to chairman Rich McKay. Referees already were empowered to eject players who committed those acts, and they will be encouraged to use that authority. If they don’t, the committee is recommending that the player be suspended for his next game even if it is a first offense.Â
New rule: Centralized replay review
What it means: The final say on replay reviews and challenges now belongs to senior vice president of officiating Dean Blandino and his supervisory crew, who will work from the league’s New York command center. Referees will participate in the conversation via wireless headsets and a video tablet rather than the previous sideline “hood.”Â
The competition committee estimates that quicker review turnarounds could shave up to 1 1/2 minutes per game.  WHOOPEE !!  1 1/2 minute.  (I wonder what if any expense is increased to save SO much time).
Possible new rule: Overtime shortened to 10 minutes.
What it means:Â The idea is to limit the amount of additional snaps players are exposed to.Â
Possible new rule: Tweak in anti-celebration rules
What it means:Â Commissioner Roger Goodell wants to meet with a group of players before deciding how to verbalize the new approach.Â
For those of you who do not know how confidence ranking goes, let me explain.
If we were playing an office pool,(which we ARE NOT). The object is to score the most points. To obtain the score YOU rank the teams by how confident you are a team will win its game. EXAMPLE: Say this week we have 16 games. The team you are most confident will win you would assign the number 16 and follow down to the team you are least confident in and assign that number 1.  We use the Monday night game as a TIE BREAKER. The tie is broke by the closest to the total (that is the COMBINED score of the two participating teams) final score, without going over.
If we were playing this is how my sheet would look; My pick will be in bold Capital letters. you can use circling, underlining, or highlighting. I will show my correct points in Bold
YOU can adopt the scoring described above. Or, the optional method. A negative score for missed games. We will continue to get a positive score for correct predictions. EXAMPLE:  if you scored 1 pt on the first game and you had 15 pts on the second game and lost you would still have a Positive 1.  HOWEVER. with the same scenario new scoring system would result with a -14 score.
I will fill in my picks Thursday. Until then feel free to:
Just copy and paste for your own Fun Pool Use. Or to see if you can beat me.
IF YOU SEE I MADE A MIS-COPY OF THE GAMES AND TIMES FEELÂ FREE TO EMAIL ME AND TELL ME I GOOFED.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL.
My mind differs with 1 of the mathematical picks. Â My mind picks the Seahawks over the Packers. Â Although the Packers are at home. Â Which may give Green Bay an edge.
