How the San Francisco 49ers are getting ready for Super Bowl LVIII

[adrotate group=”1″]    The San Francisco 49’ERS are back in the Super Bowl for the second time in four years, and they are eager to avenge their loss to the Kansas City CHIEFS in Super Bowl LIV.  The 49’ERS are coming off a thrilling comeback win over the Detroit LIONS the NFC Championship Game, while the Chiefs cruised past the Baltimore RAVENS in the AFC title game. Both teams have high-powered offenses, stingy defenses, and charismatic coaches, making this a must-watch matchup for any football fan. But how are the 49,ERS getting ready for the biggest game of the year? Here are some of the key factors that will shape their preparation and performance in Super Bowl LVIII. Dealing with the practice field issue and staying focused One of the biggest challenges for any team heading into the Super Bowl is staying focused amid the hype and distractions of the week. The 49’ERS have been dealing with an unexpected issue with their practice field at UNLV, which reportedly has poor turf conditions and uneven surfaces .  The 49’ERS are considering changing their practice facility less than a week before the game, which could disrupt their routine and rhythm.    The 49’ERS are also trying to avoid any COVID-19 issues, as the pandemic is still a major concern for the NFL and the world.  The team has been following strict protocols and testing procedures, and has not reported any positive cases among players or staff in the past two weeks. The 49’ERS are also limiting their travel and media obligations, as they will fly to Las Vegas on Saturday, the day before the game, and conduct most of their interviews virtually. Reviewing the game film and learning from the past The 49’ERS have a lot of respect for the CHIEFS who are one of the most balanced and talented teams in the league.  The CHIEFS have a dynamic offense led by QB: Patrick Mahomes, RB: Clyde Edwards-Helaire, and TE: Travis Kelce, who can attack the 49’ERS defense in multiple ways.  The CHIEFS also have a ferocious defense anchored by LB: Willie Gay Jr, DE: Chris Jones, LB:  Willie Gay Jr., and Safety Tyrann Mathieu, who can pressure and disrupt the 49ERS’ offense.    The 49’ERS are well aware of the CHIEFS’ strengths and weaknesses, as they faced them in Super Bowl LIV, where the 49’ERS blew a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter and lost 31-20. The 49ers are studying the film from that game, as well as the Chiefs’ recent games, to find any tendencies, patterns, or opportunities that they can exploit. The 49ers are also learning from their own mistakes and successes, as they have improved in several areas since last year, such as run offense, pass defense, and red zone efficiency. Trusting Brock Purdy and the offense The 49’ERS have one of the most explosive and versatile offenses in the NFL, and it all starts with their young QB:, Brock Purdy . Purdy silenced critics and proved management right for sticking with him, finishing the year with 4,280 passing yards, 31 passing touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. He led a 49’ERS offense that finished second in the NFL in yards per game (398.4), behind only the Miami Dolphins (401.3). Purdy has a plethora of weapons at his disposal, such as RB: Christian McCaffrey,  WRs  Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel, and TE: George Kittle, who all can make big plays and stretch the field.  The 49’ERS are confident in their offense, and they are not afraid to be aggressive and creative with their play-calling. HC: Kyle Shanahan and OC: Mike McDaniel have shown a knack for designing and executing innovative plays, such as the jet sweep, the reverse pass, and the wildcat, that catch the defense off guard and result in touchdowns.  The 49’ERS are also not afraid to overcome adversity, as they have proven time and again that they can come back from any deficit and score in bunches. Relying on the defense and the leaders The 49’ERS’ defense may not get as much attention as their offense, but it is equally important and impressive.  The 49’ERS defense ranked eighth in the league in points allowed per game (20.9), 10th in yards allowed per game (303.9), and fourth in turnovers forced (25) in the regular season.  The 40’ERS defense also stepped up in the playoffs, holding the Green Bay Packers to 21 points and the Lions to 31 points, and making crucial stops and turnovers in both games. The 49’ers defense is led by DC: Steve Wilks, who has a reputation for devising effective game plans and schemes against elite offenses, such as the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII and the CHIEFS in Super Bowl LIV. The 49’ERS defense also has several leaders and playmakers, such as DE: Nick Bosa, LB: Fred Warner, and CB: Richard Sherman, who can make an impact on any given play. Conclusion The 49’ERS are ready for Super Bowl LVIII, and they are determined to win their sixth title and cement their legacy as one of the best teams ever.  The 49’ERS have the talent, the coaching, the experience, and the motivation to win the game, and they are not taking anything for granted.  The 49’ERS know that the CHIEFS are a formidable opponent, and they are preparing accordingly.  The 49’ERS are confident, but not cocky, and they are focused, but not nervous.  The 49’ERS are ready to play their best game of the year, and they are ready to make history.     Post Views: 89

SUPER BOWL LVIII (58) A REMATCH FOR THE AGES

[adrotate group=”1″]   Super Bowl LVIII (58) will be played on Sunday, February 11, 2024 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. The two teams that will compete for the title are the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers, who met in Super Bowl LIV in 2020, with the Chiefs winning 31-20. The halftime show will feature Usher, a Grammy-winning R&B singer and dancer2. You can watch the game on CBS or Nickelodeon, or stream it on Paramount+1.      The biggest game of the year is almost here. On Sunday, February 11, 2024, the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers will face off in Super Bowl 58 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. This is the second time these two teams will meet in the Super Bowl, after the Chiefs defeated the 49ers 31-20 in Super Bowl LIV in 2020. Will the Chiefs repeat their victory, or will the 49ers get their revenge? Here are some key factors to consider before the game. THE QUARTER BACKS      Super Bowl 58 will feature a showdown between two of the best quarterbacks in the league: Patrick Mahomes of the CHIEFS and Brock Purdy of the 49’ERS.  Mahomes, the reigning Super Bowl MVP, has been sensational this season, leading the league in passing yards (5,472), touchdowns (48), and passer rating (117.9). He has also shown his ability to make clutch plays with his arm and his legs, especially in the playoffs, where he led the Chiefs to comeback wins over the TEXANS and the RAVENS. Mahomes is looking to become the first quarterback to win back-to-back Super Bowls since Tom Brady in 2004 and 2005.      Purdy, on the other hand, is a newcomer to the Super Bowl stage, but he has proven himself to be a worthy contender.  The second-year pro, who was drafted by the 49’ERS in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, has had a breakout season, throwing for 4,316 yards, 35 touchdowns, and only nine interceptions. He has also displayed his mobility and toughness, rushing for 421 yards and seven touchdowns, and overcoming a shoulder injury that sidelined him for two games in the regular season.  Purdy has been impressive in the postseason, leading the 49ers to dominant wins over the Lions and the Rams, and outplaying veteran quarterbacks Matthew Stafford and Aaron Rodgers.    Both Mahomes and Purdy have plenty of weapons at their disposal, such as  CHIEFS Receiver Rashee Rice.  TE: Travis Kelce. RB: Isiah Pacheco 49’ers  have WR Deebo Samuel, TE George Kittle. and RB Christian McCaffrey.  The Super Bowl 58 could very well come down to which quarterback can make the most plays and avoid the most mistakes. THE DEFENSE    While the Super Bowl 58 is expected to be a high-scoring affair, the defenses of both teams should not be overlooked. The CHIEFS and the 49’ERS have two of the most balanced and talented defenses in the league, ranking in the top 10 in both points allowed and yards allowed per game.  Both teams also have some of the best pass rushers and playmakers in the league,  The CHIEFS  have DT: Chris Jones, LB: Frank Clark.  For the 49’ERS ,  DL: Nick Bosa, and LB: Fred Warner.    The CHIEFS defense has improved significantly since last year, when they ranked 17th in points allowed and 20th in yards allowed per game. Under defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, the CHIEFS have become more aggressive and opportunistic, forcing 28 turnovers (tied for third in the league) and scoring four defensive touchdowns (tied for second in the league).  The CHIEFS defense has also stepped up in the playoffs, holding the TEXANS and the RAVENS to 20 and 17 points, respectively, and generating six turnovers and seven sacks.    The 49’ERS defense has been dominant all season long, ranking second in points allowed (17.1 per game) and fourth in yards allowed (304.9 per game). The 49’ERS‘ defense is led by their fearsome front four, which features Bosa, Arik Armstead, DeForest Buckner, and Dee Ford. The 49’ERS defense has recorded 54 sacks (second in the league) and 27 turnovers (tied for fifth in the league). The 49’ERS defense has also been dominant in the playoffs, holding the LIONS and the RAMS to 13 and 10 points, respectively, and generating five turnovers and nine sacks.    Both defenses will have their hands full trying to stop the explosive offenses of their opponents. The key for both defenses will be to pressure the quarterbacks, disrupt the timing of the passing game, and force turnovers.  THE COACHES       Super Bowl 58 will also feature a rematch between two of the best coaches in the league: Andy Reid of the CHIEFS and Kyle Shanahan of the 49’ERS. Reid, who won his first Super Bowl last year, is one of the most respected and successful coaches in NFL history, with a career record of 238-140-1.  He is known for his offensive genius, his innovative play-calling, and his ability to develop quarterbacks.  Reid has also shown his adaptability and resilience, overcoming several challenges and controversies throughout his career.    Shanahan, who lost his first Super Bowl as a head coach last year, is one of the most promising and creative coaches in the league, with a career record of 36-28.  He is known for his offensive brilliance, his scheme versatility, and his knack for finding and maximizing talent. Shanahan has also shown his determination and leadership, turning the 49ers from a 4-12 team in 2018 to a 12-5 team in 2023.    Both Reid and Shanahan have assembled strong coaching staffs, with coordinators. CHIEFS STAFF:  HC :Andy Reid. 11 years as CHIEFS HC.   Asst. Coach/Special Teams: Dave Toub.   OC: Matt Nagy,   DC: Steve Spagunolo.    Pass Coordinator:  Joe Bleymaier.    Statistical Analysis Coordinator:  Mike Frazier.   QB Coach, David Girardi 49’ERS STAFF: HC: Kyle Shanahan.   QB: Coach is Brian Griese who left his job on MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL to become teams QB coach. (He and his father Bob Griese are the only father/son… Continue reading SUPER BOWL LVIII (58) A REMATCH FOR THE AGES

NFL CONFIDENCE PICKS WEEK 17 12/29 /2022 1-1-2/2023

NFL OFFICIAL: Art McNally, 97 died Sunday of natural causes.  McNally an on field official for 9 years, including 1960-1967.  Following which he was hired by the NFL to become Supervisor of Officials.  During his term in this position he ushered in the INSTANT REPLAY.  He over saw the training and technology used in the faster more technology complicated game. Bills / BENGALS GAME POSTPONED:    Latest update Damar Hamlins is listed in Critical NFLCondition. Officially Hamlin suffered  Cardiac Arrest.  (Cardiac arrest usually results from an electrical disturbance in the heart. It’s not the same as a heart attack). UPDATE: Hsmlin vital signs back to normal.  They have put him to sleep with a breathing tube down his throat. The Monday Night Football game between Buffalo and Cincinnati has been POSTPONED after Bills Safety  Damar Hamlin.   Hamlin 24 went down after tackling Bengals WR Tee Higgins, with 5:58 left in the 1st quarter.  He  He took a few steps then collapsed.   It appeared medical personnel were giving him CPR.  He was transported by ambulance to a hospital.  No word on when or if the game will be resumed.  Our prayers are with Damar Hamlin. So far the only scheduled game for week 18 are for Saturday.  Chiefs @ Chargers 16:30 on ESPN/ABC.   At 20:15 we will have Titans @ Jaguars also on ESPN/ABC.  No other games scheduled time wise. Although we know the pairings time, date, and network remain unscheduled at this time.  NO BYES . . OFF THE SUBJECT OF NFL:  WNBA.  CONVICTED of drug TRAFFICKING, and sentenced to NINE years of prison.  PHOENIX MERCURYS,  PRIVILEGED  player will RECEIVE Full Pay for a season not played .and  league credit just as if played.  Making eligible for free agency for the 2023 season.  If another player was found to merely using drugs,  they would have been at suspended for some amount of time, along with a fine.  BUT,  some people are just PRIVILEGED, and the rules that  apply to others is ABOVE the rules.   COLTS:  Regardless of the terrible mess GM Chris Ballard has done.  Colts owner Jim Irsay says,  he’s my man.  He will be back for next season.  The one decision I have no opinion on so far is maintaning Jeff Saturday as next years HC.  (Saturday is still up in the air.)  I would like to see how he does without someone like Ballard making all the player calls, and I am sure other things he has his thumb on.  I’m sure if Saturday had his say Ehlinger would have been playing instead of Ryan and Foles..  However with Ballard in the BIG seat.  Not doing what needs to be done to form a team.  Saturday will look like the scapegoat.  Thus protecting Irsay’s BUDDY; BALLARD.  The thing is how long does Jim Irsay want to continue fielding losing teams. NFL TRIVIA:   Which undefeated team did the Miami Dolphins beat to keep their “UNDEFEATED SEASON” , in tact in 1985?       (For the answer unscramble the letters just above the pick sheet). Answer: Chicago Bears For those of you who are new here. This is  how confidence ranking goes, let me explain. If we were playing an office pool,(which we ARE NOT).  The object is to score the most points. To obtain the score YOU rank the teams by how confident you are a team will win its game.  EXAMPLE:  Say this week we have 16 games.  The team you are most confident will win you would assign the number 16 and follow down to the team you are least confident in and assign that number 1.   You add up the TOTAL CORRECT PICKS.. That would be your score.  We use the Monday night (Last game played) as a TIE BREAKER.  The tie is broken by the closest to the total (that is the COMBINED score of the two participating teams) final score, without going over. YOU can adopt the scoring  described above.  Or, the optional method.  A  negative score for missed games.  We will continue to get a positive score for correct predictions.  EXAMPLE:   if you scored     1 pt on the first game and you had 15 pts on the second game and lost you would still have  1 pt. 1.  HOWEVER. with the same scenario new scoring system would result with a –14 score If we were playing this is how my sheet would look;  My pick will be in bold Capital letters.  you can use circling, underlining, or highlighting.  I will show my correct points in Bold I will fill in my picks Thursday.  Until then feel free to: Just copy and paste for your own Fun Pool Use.  Or to see if you can beat me. NFL CONFIDENCE PICKS WEEK 16 12/22-24-25-26/2022

COLTS: Benched Matt Ryan in favor of an aging Nick Foles.   Benching Ryan makes sense; should have been done way earlier.  In fact I can see no reason for the Colts to have signed him to begin with.  But, putting that aside,  would it not make more sense  to give the young Sam Ehlinger playing time.  Doing so would give him a better chance to prove himself.  Even if the Colts keep him as a backup QB.  He would have game experience if called upon during the next season.  Or give other teams a chance to appraise him for a trade.   Sometimes I think COMMON SENSE, is an unknown commodity among the Colts organization.  I am not terribly impressed with any of the college QBs this year.  For all practical purposes the Colts season is over.  Give Ehlinger a chance! If we were playing an office pool,(which we ARE NOT).  The object is to score the most points. To obtain the score YOU rank the teams by how confident you are a team will win its game.  EXAMPLE:  Say this week we have 16 games.  The team you are most confident will win you would assign the number 16 and follow down to the team you are least confident in and assi0n that number 1. IF YOU SEE I MADE A MIS-COPY OF THE GAMES AND TIMES FEEL  FREE TO EMAIL ME AND TELL ME I GOOFED. NFL CONFIDENCE PICKS WEEK 16 NFL 12/23-25-26-27/2021

CHIEFS CLINCH AFC WEST DIVISION TITLE !! BUCCANEERS CLINCH NFC SOUTH TITLE.  Their first since 2007 !! What a weird week !!  Steelers was a mild upset. Bengals, over Broncos, no big deal. Texans, over Jags, OK.   BUT LIONS winning only their 2nd game of the season, upsetting the Cardinals ! BIG SURPRISE !! Buccaneers being blanked by the Saints, (?).  What is going on?
